Reflection on Cal Thomas's Review of the State of the Union Address

From taking notes on the speech and listening to other views of what they thought would happen in this coming year. My thought was the same as Cal's thought on it was. I said this in class but President Bush spent way to much time on discussing on terrorism and our freedom. Yes that was a turning point in our life but all you have to do is say one thing and the your done. You don't have to prolonge it. The rest of the speech was good giving other ideas on what needs to happen. So I agree with Cal's synopsis to the State of the Union Speech.

The Miners: Why?

The thing I want to know is what were they thinking when they came up to the relatives and parent and family members. Why did they have to go on and say they were alive, yes they might have heard from someone but then they could have waited till they came out to be positive before they went and blurbed it out. When they did that they just got all the hopes very hjigh and then after it all they made the families go crazy over the simple fact that they lied and really didn't know what was happening. With that they should be punished, the people that blurbed out the wrong information. They should be fired because that is just plane wrong. Not just the families but everyone who had hope.

But now they do have one thing to look at that is one miner did survive. With that they didn't lose everyone so maybe they can be sort of ok on the subject on the loss of the other miners

Bush's New Immigration and "guest worker" plan

From reading different points of President Bush's speech dealing with Immigrants. I really don't like the fact that we are starting to let people that wern't even born in America come over here and start to take it over first by getting more jobs and taking our jobs because they work for less money. Now they got President Bush on there side getting them a plan to go by where they can have rights now. I despise immigrants over here in America and I want them to go back to there own country's. So my answer to if I like what President Bush has Done, NO, hate it.

Opinion on Treatment of Detainees

From the reading that was given to us on the subject. I disagree fully on what Bush said that we should do when we get detainees. He said we shouldn't punish the detainees at any time even if the thing the detainee did was very bad. What I think is that if the person did something that would get him killed over in this coiuntry, then he needs to get punished from some way of punishment. That's my thought on this subjnect matter.

Election of Govenor of Virginia 2005

With having gone through government class and discussing the three candidates that were running. Then after watching the debate between Kilgore and Kaine. My thoughts gave me a synopsis that Kilgore had the job in the books. I thought after the debate that he had said everything the people wanted to hear, well from what I thought. after the election was over and the voters were finished voting. I was very highly thought that Kilgore had it. Then once the votes were tallied and the next govenor of virginia was crowned I was very dissapointed in reading and hearing that Kaine had won the election. I don't think that witha mind like Kaines, he will not have a succesful run of Govenor. But that are just my thought, I have been wrong sometimes, but I still believe if Kilgore would have run the election everything the poeple wanted would have been answered. That's my thoughts.

Thoughts On Harriet Miers

After reading all three of the different articles giving information on Harriet and how she is come to be what she will be doing. I just think she is one lucky human being that always gets what she wants. To me after reading one article,it startedto sound like she was trying to brown nose to get the job by doing things with Bush that was able to get her on his good side. An example of that is her running with him at his ranch in Texas.
Then I liked the comment that President Bush made saying she's like "a pibull in size 6 shoes". With thios saying she might be a girl but she nevers missing a minute of anything that might happen in the world. With he a girl its even more right to say she was lucky by being at the right place at the right time, with that she was able to get with President Bush and express who she was and what she was doing.
So my final thought is she was lucky to be there when President Bush was and to try to brown nose by doing things with Bush to get on his side was wrong. So I think she shouldn't be able to have the job. The other thing is does she even know how to be a judge? So I think that she needs to be fully checked by others besides Bush.

Kilgore vs. Kaine Campaigne Commercials

Well over the weekend I was watching tv when ever I got a chance and I was able to see all the commercials on the campaign and as I watched them it made me think more and more that Kilgore is the man to beat in this yaers election. I think that Kaine as no chance this year and that's the bottom line. So if I was Kaine then I would go on and back out now because Kilgore got more info that people want to hear.

Debate Kaine vs. Kilgore

Well my thought on the debate for the Govenor of Virginia was that it was a very tough debate through the two candidates. Each candidate had a well planned speech to use to express there outline on the policy's that they each wanted to try to change. For Kaine and Kilgores debate it was basically like all the others is each candidate was expressing there feelings agaisnt the other. Whenever one candidate would express there feelings on the topic question that they were given, the other candidate would go and say something like there you go again lying to the public just trying to get the votes. When each candidate was asked a question each had there specific ways of answering. For Kaine he would be calm when answering but then when he answers the question he would always go on another subject before answering the question. For Kilgore he would answer the question and then start to go off subject on things that he wants to discuss with this topic involved. With LKaione he doesn't like to answer certtain question's that he doesn't think they are asking the right way. With Kil;gore he used his hands to express his feelings in his answers to the questions. One thing that neither candidates did was not answer the question on thne percentage when the main question giver told them to give him a percent answer and not a long sentence on some other stuff. each candidate went through and debatedd like they should. But the only bad thing with Kilgore was he couldn't agree to have less than 49% of his ads to be negative. This debate was a great one to watch. I understood what each candadate was saying and I think it was a sucessful debate for each candidate to get there ideas out.

My thought on the government's response to the hurricane is that they are doing the best that they can to help the people who are in New Orleans. I think that the government shouldn't have to worry about getting things to the people that are not in shelters because they were told to either go to a shelter or get out of town, and most of them didn't listen a bit. Whatever the people have wanted so far they have gotten from the government. I like it how they are finally taking control and making everyone leave the new Orleans area because if they didn't they would probably have a slim chance in making it. What the people should know is that the government can only do one thing at a time. They will one day get everyone back on there feet in new homes and stuff, but for right they are doing there best to get food and water to the needy and shelter as well. So my opinion is that they are doing everything they can do for the people in New Orleans.

For me on the second article dealing with President Bush going to his ranch and taken a big vacation. The vacation part is great. He needs some time off after making all the tough decisions for war and going throgh campainging for four more years as the president of the united states. But a vacation should only be for no longer than two weeks. So to me he is taken to much time off and needs to get back and start making some decisions to keep us safe.
